Intermediate worm shaft disassembly FW713-FW726
With screwdriver, pierce input bore plug and remove from housing bore. [photo]

Models FW 732-FW738

Remove bearing retainer screws and bearing retainer.

Models FW713-FW730

Remove outboard retaining ring from housing bore. [photo]

Remove 4-6 screws from attachment cover and remove from housing. [photo]
Remove screw, lock washer and washer [photo]
Remove intermediate worm assembly through bore opposite attachment housing. [photo]
 
 
 
 

  Models FW713-FW730
Check condition of ball bearings. Bearings should roll smoothly and not bind. If bearings need replacement, press shaft through bearings. Install new bearing onto shaft. If not already packed with grease, bearings should be packed at least 50% full with Lubux XP #2. [photo]

Models FW732-FW738

Check tapered roller bearing for signs of contamination or discoloration. Rollers should not bind or exhibit flat spots. Bearings should be packed at least 50% full with Lubux XP #2.

Intermediate worm gear

Remove from attachment housing. Shims and gear spacer should be set aside for re-assembly. Note: Gear teeth will be damaged if intermediate worm gear is removed before intermediate shaft is removed. [photo]
