Input Shaft & Oil Seal Re-assembly Double Reduction

 
 


Input shaft reassembly | Models F710-F738
Insert input worm shaft assembly into housing with retaining ring used to seat ball bearing. [photo]
Install metal shims. [photo]
Assemble outboard snap ring. [photo]
Clean housing bores in area where oils seals is to be inserted.

Clean housing bores in area where oils seals is to be inserted.

Oil seal assembly:
Rubber clad oil seals: apply all purpose grease (NLGI #2 consistency) to ID and OD [photo]
Steel clad oil seals: apply all purpose grease to ID only and coat bore evenly with Permatex aviation former gasket #3 or equivalent.
Insert new oil seal over shaft until it contacts the housing. Care must be taken not to damage oil seal lip.
 
 
 
 

 
With small hammer, tap around face of seal casing. Oil seal location as follows: flange end oil seal (fig 2 page 15). Recess seal.
Coat bore evenly with Permatex aviation former gasket #3 or equivalent. [photo]
Install new bore plug, using a small hammer lightly tap around plug face near outside diameter. Caution: Do not distort bore plug. [photo]
Assemble motor flange. [photo]
